Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Program in Mathematics Education at Teachers College, Columbia University seeks an 18-month Visiting Open Rank Professor (non tenure-track) of Mathematics Education starting January 2023. Primary responsibilities associated with the position include teaching a total of five courses (1-2-2 load) during three semesters (the Spring, Fall and Spring semesters), maintaining an active research agenda, advising doctoral students and serving on doctoral student dissertation committees, and making meaningful contributions to the Program.

Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities:
Candidates for this position should be able to teach courses and work with doctoral students interested in research in mathematics education.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in mathematics education or a closely related field
  • Strong preparation in mathematics
  • Experience teaching mathematics in grades 7-12, public or private
  • Teaching experience at the post-secondary level
  • Established line of research in mathematics education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching at the graduate level and advising doctoral candidates on their research.
  • Experience in research in sociology of mathematics education including issues of equity in mathematics education.
  • Experience of teaching courses in mathematics at undergraduate and/or graduate level.

Salary Range:

$103,500 - $139,725
