Posting Summary:
Reporting to the Director of TC NEXT, the Associate Director of Employment Partnerships will serve as the key person responsible for overseeing the execution of partnerships and engagement with employers and hiring managers to connect TC students and alumni to postgraduate opportunities.

Job Summary/Basic Function:
Reporting to the Director of TC NEXT, the Associate Director of Employment Partnerships will serve as the key person responsible for overseeing the execution of partnerships and engagement with employers and hiring managers to connect TC students and alumni to postgraduate opportunities. The incumbent will serve as a member of the office's leadership team and provide direct supervision to staff

The Associate Director of Employment Partnerships will also be responsible for managing, strategizing, and developing communication and outreach to the students and alumni using various communication tools, including event invitations, newsletters, and social media content. The incumbent will oversee the collection of data related to TC NEXT initiatives and overall student career outcomes.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employer Relationship Management:
● Design and implement a strategy to build and diversify TC’s reputation as a source of qualified talent for careers in education, health, and psychology.
● Identify and develop relationships with employers across diverse sectors (e.g., education, nonprofit, corporate, international education, instructional technology, counseling/clinical psychology) to expand the opportunities available for full-time/part-time employment and internships.
● Provide consultation to employers in devising effective, customized strategies for their campus relations and recruiting initiatives.
● Ensure that long-term relationships with appropriate internal and external constituents and organizations are developed and managed.
● Collaborate with TC staff, faculty/administrators, and with our colleagues at Columbia University’s various Career Services Offices to develop and/or promote services and recruiting options to students/alumni/employers.
● Coordinate and participate in employer-based programs, including workshops, career panels, presentations, information exchanges, career fairs, and networking events for TC students and alumni.
● Ensure that goals set for programming and events are in alignment with the mission of the office and division. Evaluate program effectiveness and oversee changes based on results.
● Manage and assume accountability for timelines and budgets for programs and events, ensuring that all aspects are covered and results are accomplished in a timely fashion.
● Stay current with employment trends, major-specific hiring practices, evolving labor market demands, and emerging career pathways.

Data, Systems, & Communications Oversight:
● Oversee data collection and reporting regarding student and alumni participation with TC NEXT services, recruitment programs, career outcomes, survey results, etc.
● Develop strategies to collect and analyze data that contribute to and guide evidence-based decision-making to increase engagement with TC NEXT services and further refine our offerings.
● Interact with IT teams to ensure career services systems are integrated, when applicable, into campus computing systems.
● Oversee the creation and dissemination of TC NEXT mass communications (in collaboration with the divisional marketing point of contact), including weekly student newsletters, quarterly employer newsletters, and ad-hoc email announcements.
● Collaborate with other TC departments on cross-promotion of our relevant events and services in their own communications (ex. Alumni Relations, Graduate Student Life & Development)
● Manage TC NEXT’s social media presence (ex. Instagram, LinkedIn) and engage with student employees to assign daily content creation tasks.

Leadership & Employee Supervision:
● Serve as a member of the office's leadership team, helping to shape office-wide priorities and strategy.
● Supervise a team of full-time staff members and student employees.
● Provide professional development training, as needed, to ensure that staff have the requisite skills necessary to work effectively in both individual and group settings.
● Ensure that staff are mentored to enhance their professional development through regular check-ins and annual performance evaluations.

Other Duties:
● Conduct individual career coaching sessions, as needed, for students and alumni.
● Represent TC NEXT at campus events such as new student orientation, admitted student day, and convocation to promote the services and events of the office.
● Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, training, and experience
● 5+ years of experience in Employer Relations, Corporate Recruiting, Career Services, or a related field
● 2+ years of experience managing and mentoring teams with a focus on fostering staff development, accountability, and a collaborative work environment.
● Strong technology skills (including Google suite, Microsoft suite, Canva, etc.) and familiarity with career-services specific software/web-based tools (ex. 12twenty, Quinncia, Interstride, LinkedIn, etc.) and the ability to learn new technology.
● Experience in the planning and execution of professional events and recruitment programming
● Strong writing and presentation skills, with experience crafting mass communications and social media content for students, alumni, and employers.
● Ability to work effectively with diverse constituents, including employers, students/alumni, faculty, and administration
● Strong project management skills with the ability to lead initiatives from conceptualization through implementation
● Knowledge and experience with current best practices in the operation of a comprehensive and innovative career education model as it relates to employer outreach and engagement.
● Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support key events and programming.

Preferred Qualifications:
● Master's degree in a relevant field
● Proven ability and experience working with a graduate student population
● Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana
● Experience managing relationships with external vendors (software providers, promotional product companies, caterers, etc.)
● Understanding of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) best practices for the field of career services

Salary Range:

$86,000 - $90,000
