Posting Summary:
TCCS (Teachers College Community School) is seeking a Spanish instructor to teach and plan weekly Spanish classes for 12 hours per week (teach 6 classes, one-hour each to grades 4-7, plus 6 hours of planning time) for the 2026-2027 NYC Public School year. The schedule is flexible, but candidates must be available to teach between 8:30 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. at least three days a week.
TCCS was established by Teachers College and the New York City Department of Education as a non-selective, public, demonstration PreK-8 school with a formal affiliation with TC. Opened in 2011, the school now serves pre-Kindergarten through eighth grades. Grades 3-8 are located at 168 Morningside Avenue; Grades PreK-2 are located at 223 W 132nd Street. Job Summary/Basic Function:
• prepare weekly classes
• teach weekly sessions
• maintain and submit grades for all students as asked
• collaborate with the Director of Strategic Partnerships on planning and teaching
• correspond with the Director of Strategic Partnerships regarding materials and support needed

Minimum Qualifications:
• Must have experience teaching Spanish to young learners (grades K-8)
• Must have experience in an instructional setting with grades K-8
• Strong collaboration skills as evidenced by ability to build positive relationships and work as part of a team with a strong initiative to drive forward project goals while demonstrating respect and humility
• Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate concepts in writing and orally
• Demonstrated skills and abilities to exercise professional judgment, work independently and show initiative
• Passionate commitment to expanding opportunities for one of the most diverse school communities in Harlem
• This is an ideal position for a current TC student
• Full-time TC employees are not eligible for this position

Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with NYC Public Schools
• NY State teaching certification

Salary Range:

$4200/semester (this position is also eligible for 3 pts tuition exemption/semester)
