Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Assistant Professor of Teaching will serve in a one-year, in-person as a core faculty member contributing to specialized bilingual teaching, clinical supervision, student advising, and the day-to-day administration and growth of the bilingual program.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching:
Instruct core and specialized Master's and Doctoral-level courses in Counseling Psychology with a primary focus on Bilingual Counseling/Therapy, Foundations of Counseling Skills, Multicultural Psychopathology, and Professional Ethics.
Develop and update course syllabi to reflect current, research-backed, and culturally/linguistically responsive counseling practices for Latine and Spanish-speaking populations.
Utilize experiential teaching methodologies to foster strong clinical skill development in both English and Spanish.

Advisement and Supervision:
Provide clinical and administrative supervision to graduate students enrolled in the Bilingual Spanish specialization in the EdM program in Mental Health Counseling.
Mentor and academically advise master’s students, tracking their progress through their clinical field placements, internships, and graduation requirements.
Oversee and evaluate the bilingual clinical competencies of students working with Spanish-speaking clients in fieldwork settings.

Program Administration and Record-Keeping:
Assist with the overall administration, coordination, and community outreach of the Bilingual Spanish program.
Coordinate specialized student recruitment and assist with the admissions review process for bilingual applicants.
Collaborate with field placement coordinator to cultivate and approve clinical internship sites that serve Spanish-speaking populations.

College, Department, and/or Program Service:
Participate in departmental meetings, committee work, and institutional service initiatives at Teachers College.
Serve as a liaison to professional counseling organizations, championing bilingual mental health training standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a closely related mental health field.
Native or professional-level bilingual fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English, with the demonstrated ability to teach and provide clinical supervision in both languages.
Preparation to teach specialized and core master’s-level counseling courses, specifically Bilingual Counseling Theories/Interventions, Multicultural Psychopathology, Foundations of Counseling Skills, and Professional Ethics.
Demonstration of a strong professional identity as a counselor educator, supervisor, and/or psychologist.

Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to an earned doctorate, a completed Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling .
Active state licensure or eligibility for licensure in New York (e.g., LMHC or Licensed Psychologist).
Demonstrated experience navigating programmatic administration, curriculum mapping, or community-based mental health program development.
Demonstrated knowledge and direct clinical experience working with research-based best practices for training bilingual mental health counselors and serving diverse Latine communities.

Salary Range:

$75,000-$82,000
