Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Black Education Research Center (BERC) at Teachers College, Columbia University, is seeking a Program Manager who will be responsible for the management of specified components for BERC research-related initiatives at Teachers College, Columbia University. The Program Manager will work closely with various departments within the university to ensure that research needs are met and that the budget and grants management remain aligned with BERC mission and goals.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Internal Operations Management 

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of center policies, workflows, and procedures.
  • Execute day-to-day financial transactions, including processing expenses, reimbursements, purchase orders, and timely payments for vendors, consultants, and external partners under the budget and grant constraints.
  • Manage the operational onboarding, training, and administrative coordination of incoming personnel as needed.
  • Lead the logistical planning and execution of center-wide meetings, guest speaker events, and internal workshops, handling all room reservations, catering, and travel arrangements.
  • Coordinate and maintain the agendas for team meetings; attend sessions to record, distribute, and archive official meeting minutes and track action items for accountability.
  • Maintain a centralized digital archive of the center's historical research reports, past project data, templates, and administrative workflows to preserve institutional memory.

Project Management and Communications 

  • Manage the BERC calendar
  • Manage BERC website, email account, and other external communications
  • Manage and track research and community-based projects
  • Contribute social media content

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education, business administration, or a related field is required.
  • At least five years of experience in academic program management or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in budget development, management, and office administration

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with TC systems and operations
  • Experience with Banner, ChromeRiver, and UniMarket

Salary Range:

$75,000 - $80,000

The salary range reflects the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting.  Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

Hybrid/Remote

Depending on role and business needs, colleagues will either work onsite or in a hybrid model (a combination of in-office and virtual days). Employees are expected to live within a 150-mile radius of the College.
