Posting Summary:
The Success Coordinator for Attendance will play a pivotal role in improving student attendance rates by implementing strategies that foster a positive school culture, engaging families and the community, and addressing barriers to regular school attendance. The Coordinator will work closely with students, families, school staff, and community partners to develop and execute personalized attendance improvement plans and support a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS).
Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Raising Educational Achievement Coalition of Harlem (REACH) within the Edmond Gordon Institute of Advanced Study (GIAS) at Teachers College, Columbia University, aims to improve students' academic, social-emotional, and wellness outcomes by designing and implementing coherent, intentional, and sustainable community school model in our partner schools.
We are seeking a Success Coordinator to work with chronically absent youth to address the barriers keeping them from attending school on a daily basis and to help them reach their educational outcomes
Minimum Qualifications:
● Associate degree in the fields of Social Services, Psychology, Education or related field required
● At least 2 years of experience working with elementary aged and adolescent’s groups.
● Must demonstrate the interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with designated staff, DOE professionals, scholars, and their families during periods of emotional stress.
● Must have experience in culturally responsive and social emotional learning practices with diverse populations.
● Strong commitment and motivation to assist in achieving goals centered around Core Values.
● Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Suite
● Strong interpersonal, diplomacy, communication and listening skills
● Strong organization and prioritization skills
● Detail oriented
● Demonstrate integrity and ethical practices
Preferred Qualifications:
● Bilingual professionals
● Bachelor degree
● Must be able to adapt to an extremely dynamic work environment as priorities change throughout the academic year
Salary Range:
$48,000 - $50,000
