Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Office of Teacher Education seeks a presenter facilitate workshops on the topics of Child Abuse Identification and School Violence Prevention at Teachers College for students seeking New York State teaching certification. The candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing interactive activities using a syllabus provided by New York State.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing a deep understanding of state workshop requirements regarding Child Abuse and School Violence Prevention
  • Revise and in some cases design workshop materials that are aligned with the state curriculum
  • Present interactive workshops multiple times during a semester on WEEKENDS.
  • Other duties as requested.

NOTE: Workshops currently take place via Zoom but may shift to an in person format in the future.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a K-12 environment and navigating school, district, and state level policies regarding child abuse reporting and school violence prevention
  • Bachelors degree or higher in education, social work, school counseling, school psychology, or a related field
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with topics around harassment, bullying, and discrimination
  • New York State Certification as a classroom teacher, counselor, psychologist, or school building leader
  • Knowledge of New York City Schools
  • Familiarity with New York State child abuse and violence prevention regulations

Salary Range:

$55-$60/hour

Work Modality:

Hybrid; may shift to in person in the future
