Posting Summary:
The Program in International and Comparative Education (ICEd) at Teachers College, Columbia University, is seeking a full-time lecturer with a special focus on Families, Communities and Schools. This is a one-year academic appointment (paid over 12 months) with the possibility of renewal for up to three years. The lecturer will teach five courses, provide academic advisement to M.A. students in the ICEd program, carry out program-related work, and be expected to contribute to the overall operations of the program. The candidate will help the program to broaden the notion of education by addressing opportunities and challenges of education in and out of school and across other educational sites (families, communities, (social) media, museum, non-governmental organizations, etc.

Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Program in International and Comparative Education (ICEd) at Teachers College, Columbia University, is seeking a full-time lecturer with a special focus on Families, Communities and Schools. The candidate will help the program to broaden the notion of education by addressing opportunities and challenges of education in and out of school and across other educational sites (families, communities, (social) media, museum, non-governmental organizations, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in international and comparative education and/or related social science discipline (e.g., anthropology, political science or sociology).
Research on families, communities, and schools including the following areas: family, school, and community partnerships; the role of families, communities, religious organizations, media/social media, museums, and other sites for formal and non formal education; community education and non governmental organizations (NGOs); NGOs and advocacy.
Demonstrated strength in innovative research methods, including qualitative, ethnographic, or mixed research methods, (including community-based research, participatory action research, or surveys.
Evidence of successful university teaching.
Ability to teach core courses in international and comparative education (i.e., ITSF4580/1) Comparative and International Development Studies and research methods) and two courses related to multiple educational sites (family, communities, museums, media, etc.) such as ITSF5023 The Family as Educator or ITSF5120 Education in Community Settings.
Professional experience in project work in the global South.
