Teachers College Record (TCR) is seeking an interim Doctoral Associate for the Spring term 2026 (with the possibility of continuation). The Doctoral Associate will support various editorial activities of the publication. This position requires a commitment of 10 hours/week.
Job Summary/Basic Function:
Teachers College Record (TCR) is seeking an interim Doctoral Associate for the Spring term 2026 (with the possibility of continuation). The Doctoral Associate will support various editorial activities of the publication. Candidates should demonstrate an interest in educational research and scholarly publications. The Doctoral Associate will engage primarily in all editorial aspects of TCR (reviewing manuscripts, contributing to research for conferences, and participating in workshops, supporting events, and presentations to the team). We are particularly interested in applicants who want to develop themselves as researchers and have a strong background in either qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods research.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Review manuscripts submitted to Teachers College Record (TCR) in a timely manner
● Contribute to research and dissemination via journal submissions and conference presentations
● Off editorial and production recommendations
● Improve existing procedures and policies (e.g., data-driven decisions, research process)
● Participate in discussion on emerging trends in publication (i.e., AI, open access)

Scheduling
Student work schedules are based on the needs of the department and the student’s academic schedule. Students should discuss their schedules with the hiring manager/supervisor during the interview process. Hiring managers/supervisors will make every attempt to accommodate students’ needs.
Work Limitations
During the academic year, students may not hold appointments or any combination of appointments totaling more than 27 hours per week (International students may work up to 20 hours). Interim Student (IS) may hold other non-exempt positions (i.e. FWS, CA, AF) and must not exceed the maximum total allowable 27 hours per week. IS cannot hold a TA or RA position simultaneously with their IS position.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a TC student currently enrolled in a degree program and taking at least 1 credit during the fall/spring semesters.
- Must be able to abide by Teachers College academic and personnel policies and guidelines, including FERPA, Student Confidentiality Agreement, and the Student Privacy Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or social media
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to complete assigned projects with minimal supervision
- Strong computer, research, and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:
● Must be an advanced Teachers College doctoral candidate
● Strong research background (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods)
● Experience with academic publications and/or publishing systems
● Very good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
● Knowledge of educational research and scholarship
● Able to commit to at least 10 hours per week
Salary Range:
$18.00-$20.00 / hr
