Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Senior Research Associate supports several quantitative and qualitative research projects. The Senior Research Associate participates in the design and implementation of research projects, co-leads aspects of a project with the project director (e.g. fieldwork and/or data analysis), and co-authors project-related reports and publications.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support IRB submission and modification process for the Center
- Co-lead the design and implementation of existing and future research projects
- Contribute to the conceptualization of research framework and design for new studies
- Lead the design and development of research-related documents, including study prospectus, data collection instruments, and reports
- Co-lead research projects (e.g. draft tasks and timelines, take responsibility for study components or sub-projects)
- Contribute to project team meetings, in a senior and substantive capacity (e.g., facilitate productive discussion and delegate responsibilities)
- Respond to internal and external requests for information
- Contribute to project updates for funders
- Lead or co-lead data analysis activities
- Use data analysis software or data organizing techniques to manage and analyze data. Budget available for licenses that TC does not have.
- Lead or co-lead data cleaning and coding
- Manage or co-manage data analysis process
- Extrapolate research findings from data analysis
- Ensure data documentation, organization, and security
- Draft and revise analytic memos and reports
- Contribute to the development of report storylines
- Co-author study reports and other written products
- Participate in the Klingenstein internal paper review process
- Contribute to proposal development and grant writing activities
- Present research findings at meetings and conferences
- Represent Klingenstein at meetings, events, and conferences under the supervision of senior project staff
- Train and oversee junior staff on a range of potential research-related activities
- Coordinate and participate in Center events and professional development activities
- Support the writing of grant proposals to support research initiatives
- Support finding opportunities for the Klingenstein Center and its researchers to share and publish work.
- Serve as instructor for LA and speaker for Forge programs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in economics, higher education, sociology, or a related social sciences field
- Four to six years of relevant coursework and experience
- One to three years of experience in higher education, and issues of access to and success in independent school education
- One to three years of experience in drafting and revising research papers and articles, either independently or as part of a team
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Track record of delivering high-quality work product under deadline
- Good judgment, reliability, ability to work independently or with a team, and meeting deadlines
- Experienced in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proficiency with Atlas.ti, N’Vivo, or similar qualitative data analysis programs
- Travel is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- EdD/PhD in economics, higher education, sociology, or a related social sciences field.
- Independent School Experience (One to three years)
Salary Range:
$75,000-$85,000
