Posting Summary:
The Hollingworth Science Camp at Teachers College, Columbia University, is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Teachers to support Head Teachers in a dynamic summer camp environment. The Assistant Teacher will serve as an integral member of the classroom teaching team, supporting the implementation of curriculum, mentoring students, and fostering a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for elementary-aged children. This is a short-term summer position from June 20- July 30, 3026.

Job Summary/Basic Function:

The incumbent will assist the head teacher in all aspects of the science camp ensuringa safe and comfortable learning environment for a group of elementary-aged children for the duration of the camp.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience working with elementary school-aged children
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and take direction from lead teachers
  • Basic classroom management and organizational skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Arts degree or enrolled in a Master of Arts program

Salary Range:

$18-$20/hour
