Posting Summary:
The Hollingworth Science Camp at Teachers College, Columbia University, is seeking an Administrative Assistant who will play a vital role in supporting the successful operation of our summer camp program. This position involves assisting with all aspects of camp administration, from pre-camp planning to post-camp follow-up, including clean-up.

Job Summary/Basic Function:
Assist with the full lifecycle of running a summer camp program, from pre-camp preparation of materials and management of the databases, to post-camp parent communications and clean up protocols.

  • Prepare materials for parents, teachers, and campers
  • Provide clear and consistent parent communication via email, phone and in person
  • Collaborate with office staff and teaching staff to ensure program runs smoothly
  • Setup and breakdown of staff meetings, daily check in area, and camper special events
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in training or experience
  • 1 year of related experience
  • Experience working in an office environment with strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information
  • Experience in scheduling and coordinating meetings or events

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters program in progress
  • Customer service experience, particularly in responding to parent inquiries
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing priorities
  • Experience with event setup, logistics, or program coordination

Salary Range:

$20/hour
