Funded by the Department of Homeland Security, Dr. Amra Sabic-El-Rayess is leading a project that will design an interactive program focused on storytelling – a protective factor against targeted violence (Sabic-El-Rayess, 2022) – for educators, educational staff, and other key stakeholders to learn about evidence-based and empathetic strategies to engage in story-creation. The project will involve the researching and development of media assets to highlight educator stories of resilience By showcasing the narratives of resilience created by community members and educators across the United States of America, this project will (a) develop a research-based model of protective storytelling that counters risk factors of targeted violence and identity-based bias; and (b) explore the role of protective storytelling as part of whole-of-society approach to the prevention of targeted violence. This project is looking for a Tech/Social Media/Creative Graduate Research Assistant to lead technology, social media, creative and website tasks related to the grant. The position is dynamic and includes opportunities for growth and leading initiatives.
