Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Department of Education Policy and Social Analysis (EPSA) at Teachers College, Columbia University seeks applications for a Full-time Lecturer, in the Sociology & Education Program.

The Sociology & Education program is housed within the rich, multidisciplinary environment of TC’s Department of Education Policy and Social Analysis (EPSA), which also includes programs in Education Policy, Economics and Education, History and Education, and Politics and Education. We offer the M.A., Ed.M., and Ph.D. degree. In each degree program, students enroll in core courses in social theory and the social analysis of education, along with coursework in education and social inequality; education and social organization; education and social change; and quantitative, qualitative and advanced research methods.

The appointment is for three nine-month academic years, each paid over twelve months, beginning on September 1, 2025, and is renewable contingent upon continued needs and availability of funds. We seek an individual of outstanding promise in teaching, advising, and research.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach five course sections per academic year. Course assignments will depend on the successful candidate's area(s) of expertise.
  • Advise master's students
  • Participate actively in program administration, public outreach, and other community-building efforts within our program and department
 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in sociology or education with an emphasis on sociology of education and experience teaching courses in the sociology of education.
  • Applicants must be authorized for employment in the U.S. on a full-time basis.

  • We seek an individual whose teaching is of the highest academic caliber and who complements the strengths of the current full-time faculty.

78000-88000
