Overview:

Work-Study Assistant: Language Samples - DLL Lab (CSD)
The Developing Language and Literacy Lab, directed by Dr. Carol Scheffner Hammer, is involved in exciting new research, investigating linguistic development in bilingual children.

Work-Study Assistants are needed to work on the project to assist with analysis of language samples. Candidates should have an undergraduate background in language development, theoretical or applied linguistics, early childhood education, child development, psychology, cognitive science, assessment, or similar. Successful candidates will be conscientious and detail-oriented with strong communication skills. Spanish-English bilingual candidates are strongly preferred.

Candidates will be expected to dedicate 5 hours per week to completing analysis of language samples, and to other tasks related to this research. A training will take place in late September or early October.

Responsibilities:
- Code language samples using SALT
- Communicate regularly with project supervisors and other members of the project team
- Electronic material maintenance tasks as needed
- Other tasks related to the project as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have been awarded federal work-study for the term in which a work-study position is being sought.
Must be a student matriculated in a TC degree program.
 Must be taking at least 5 credits (or equivalent, which includes full-time equivalent offerings - HBSK 6480, CCPJ 6480, CCPX 6480, or any 8900 course).
Full-time TC employees are not eligible for this position.
Must be able to abide by the Student Confidentiality Agreement.
Must be able to abide by the Student Privacy Requirements.

Compensation: $15/hour

Job Logistics: Hybrid (in-person and remote)
