Teachers College Press, a specialized scholarly publisher seeks Managing Editor for print and digital products. Responsibilities include:

Job Summary/Basic Function:
Managing Editor Responsibilities: Completes initial review/turnover of projects from the Acquisitions Dept. Completes “castoffs” to estimate final page counts. Works with the Press Director, and Acquisitions Department as “master scheduler”, which involves running a weekly production schedule meeting, providing a spreadsheet generated out of the Title Management database, pre-assigning projects to the Production Editors, scheduling bound book dates, and adjusting schedules as needed. Handles updates to the Production Editor’s Manual and the Press’ Guide for Authors. Acts as Production Editor on special/non-typical projects.

Production Editor Responsibilities: Supervises all aspects of each assigned project's production, from initial manuscript review to bound printed book and ebook. This includes working with and supervising Full Service providers, who handle production and indexing on the books assigned to them. Reviews, edits, and approves marketing copy and materials. Works directly with authors and handles all administrative aspects for producing new books (e.g., finalizing titles, CIP, limited communication regarding cover designs, scheduling launch meetings, freelancer invoices, reprint corrections). Oversee manufacturers to ensure schedule and quality.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Experience: 5-6 years in Publishing/Production
Specific Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, InDesign, Adobe Acrobat & Distiller Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: Book production, copyediting, proofreading, type design, typesetting
Additional Knowledge: Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. desirable
